Keeping in tradition, TLF presents this weeks ‘MoreLifeMonday‘ candidate. An artist YOU SHOULD be familiar with by now. as he is continually bringing a variety of jazzy goodness into the Melbourne music scene, and crafting a new era!
This is Billy Davis.
You haven’t heard someone like Billy before, his sound is something you just can’t quite put into words, but only through listening you’ll understand.
He’s the perfect combination of hip hop meets soul, soul meets electronic, jazz meets R&B, and any other algorithm you can think of. His style is just so smooth and unique it simply leaves you hypnotised.
Over the past 12 months, Davis has been introducing himself to new fans and also released a number of singles upon the release of his debut album, ‘A Family Portrait’.
The project is a ‘genre-bending musical experience’ dedicated to his mother and his late-father (who passed away when Billy was just 3).
The family concept also touches on the musical family he has shaped. Of this, Davis says; “Not really knowing what a regular family was, being an only child with just a mum it was crazy that with this project I was able to find and build a family of my own.” (from Facebook)
Since it’s release on September 1st, TLF have had the album on repeat and can’t get enough.
The future truly shines bright for Billy Davis, as he keeps making Australia proud and putting Melbourne on the map. This is what the culture is all about and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
