MoreLifeMonday: Peezo

This week ‘MoreLifeMonday’ presents Peezo, a fresh talented artist from Melbourne  who recently dropped back-to-back fire with his hits ‘Nauseous‘ and ‘Focus‘.

Originally from Byron, Peezo is a skilled lyricist capable of pouring his conscience on the track. Evidently on his new jam ‘Focus’, the up-comer spits with high charisma and confidence while opening up about his past and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Peezo is quickly making waves on the Australian hip hop culture and we cant wait to see what’s to come next!

The Local Frequency managed to chat with Peezo about his writing process, thoughts on the Australian hip hop scene and more, check it out below:

First off, loving the new jam “Focus” man, what was the process like in creating the track?
Thank you Sir! The process was pretty chilled i guess haha. I just went over to my producers house (Agnus) and he had the skeleton of the beat we worked on it for a while then wrote the song in the studio recorded a scratch demo. We liked the demo so much we just kept it and re-sang the hook.

Do you usually write the lyrics first or does the beat come first?
I always have to write to the beat. I have tried to write to no beat previously and it never really works for me.

What are your thoughts on the topic of Australian hip hop and its reputation?
My thoughts on Australian hip hop at the moment are that everyone is so scared of being Australian but we live in Australia. I think thats cool and i know that Melbourne is easily one of the coolest city’s in the world and i’m proud to be here. I rep that and i’m not hiding from the fact that i am Australian. As far as the reputation i’m not sure what that is because i’m just in the middle of it so its hard to asses what people think. I see it getting cooler and cooler without the stigma that has followed it in the past.

Who are some of the artists you’re listening to right now?
This weird band from Scandinavia called “LISS”, old JAY-Z, old CLIPSE and all my unreleased music.

What else can we expect to see from Peezo?
LOTS OF SONGS and MORE PODCATS whatever else happens is up to the universe.
