Offering a BROCKHAMPTON type of vibe, the record utilises a simple xylophone jingle to create an explosively upbeat jam packed with hard bass, trickling hi-hats, and of course, the group’s exuberating vocal presence.
Having spent the last 12 months touring, performing, and recording, 3K has been knee-deep preparing for 2020. Hence, recent success saw Beluga and Eissa feature on Complex AU 16 Bars, as well as amassing over 400,000 listens on Spotify alone.
LISTEN TO ‘BRING A FRIEND‘ BELOW AND TELL US WHAT YOU THINK!
Looking to have a substantial year ahead, TLF managed to link up with 3K for an exclusive interview where we spoke about their new single, the inspiration behind it, working on music during COVID-19, future releases, and much more!
Check out the full interview below:
First off, congrats on the release of your new single! What was the main idea behind bringing ‘Bring A Friend‘ to life?
3K – For ‘Bring a Friend’ we wanted to make a song that was catchy while also not taking ourselves too seriously. As soon as the beat started coming into fruition we knew the direction we wanted the song to go. In a way, we were trying to capture a frantic snapshot of a night out gone wrong. Uncut Gems-type vibes.
There’s always an incredible amount of energy in your releases, where do you guys draw inspiration from when working on new tracks?
3K – A lot of our inspiration comes from the chemistry we have as a group. Besides that, listening to different styles of music while surrounding ourselves with a bunch of talented artists allows us all to progress together.
How have these strange times been affecting the crew’s creative process and the ability to make music?
3K – It started off difficult considering we live far apart, but we’ve been able to transition into finding a workflow that feels organic which has allowed us to keep working how we normally do. We’re working on a few projects at the moment and they’re all progressing really well, so can’t wait to show the people!
Once all these COVID-19 lockdowns brush over, what is 3K most excited about doing again?
3K – Filming music videos with a grander creative direction, big big BIG shows, drowning the city in 3K stickers, and making more music that pleases everyone’s wide spectrum of emotions.
Looking forward, is there anything else we can expect to keep and eye out for moving into the second half of 2020?
3K – We’re experimenting more with new soundscapes in the hopes to release a project by the end of the year. In the meantime who knows.. maybe a couple heaters?
