Meet Kavi and his compelling debut EP, ‘train tracks and bad dreams’

Hailing from South-East Melbourne, Karvesh Pillai, better known as Kavi, is a singer and songwriter with a knack for turning sad stories into catchy pop tunes.

The 21-year-old newcomer is a multidimensional artist capable of channelling thoughts of love, friendship, and growing pain induced frustration, into lyrics which embody raw honesty and vivid imagery.

Furthermore, Kavi’s emotion-laden vocals rise out of a soundscape built upon hip-hop inspired beats, while also citing the likes of Lorde, The Weeknd, E^ST and Halsey as some of his sonic influences.

In December 2018, the emerging artist made his debut with the release of his EP, titled ‘train tracks and bad dreams’. A multifaceted six-track project that finessed from the culmination of months between navigating broken friendships and making the leap from teenage nonchalance to the relative gravity of adulthood.

However, the EP quickly caught the attention of audiences across Australia and the US, leading to a jump into the literal spotlight as the opening act for electronic-pop duo LouSkylar at their Melbourne launch party in February 2019.

Moving forward with several upcoming features and a sparkling new EP in the works, 2019 is set to be a big year for Kavi and TLF is excited to see how it all unfolds!
