LISTEN TO ‘GOD DAMN‘ BELOW AND TELL US WHAT YOU THINK!
Following the release, TLF managed to link up with Kieren Luke for an exclusive Q&A, where we spoke about where he’s currently at musically, his new release, what the future holds and more. You can peep our full interview below:
(TLF) First off, tell us what’s been happening since the last time we linked up?
Kieren: I’ve tracked 10 demos and played around with my sound to find something that people are happy with. I’ve done the radio thing a couple times, learnt a lot about the business side of the music industry and started working with quite a few different people. It’s been crazy but it’s slowly paying off!
(TLF) Who are some of your biggest influences when it comes to creating music lately?
Kieren: Man i’d have to say Russ, Posty and Rocky. I love the way they birth their content and they’re solid business men, not just great musicians.
(TLF) Congratulations on your new release, what does ‘God Damn’ mean to you?
Kieren: I was always that kid that no one would f*** with, no matter how hard I tried. So I gave up on trying to be the cool kid and just worked super hard to achieve my goals by myself. Inevitably that grind started seeing success and those who didn’t f*** with me, started to do so quickly, go figure. FOMO is a pretty ugly thing and I’m just trying to shine a light on that. The real people around me know who they are, and they know that if I go to the top then so do they.
(TLF) What was the process like behind bringing it to life?
Kieren: This one was pretty magical for me! It started off as almost a grime thing in my head. I started working on it with Angus Gray about a month back and couldn’t get the hook right so I almost gave up. Then one night I came in after he had spent hours on chopping up the beat and it just re-inspired me to finish it. Then it turned into some promo work with Tobu Sunika, so I had to release earlier than expected, i’m still happy with the results though!
(TLF) What do you think stands out the most on this track?
Kieren: There’s so many little things that stand out but I’d say it’d have to be the beat change up in verse 2, the whole of verse 2 have great elements though.
(TLF) Can we expect to see any more releases, shows or visuals in the remainder of 2019?
Kieren: Yes, definitely! I’ve got the music video for this track that will be completed before this is even published, releasing in a couple of weeks. Followed by another completely different single along with visuals. I’ve got Some more promo work with Tobu Sunika along side with Sneaker Con and other than that, just promoting the EP that’s dropping early 2020.
(TLF) Finally, what do you hope to achieve with your music?
Kieren: I just want a fan base that can see me for me and appreciate good music, I want to do worldwide stadium tours and I want people to remember the name Kieren Luke after I’m gone. I want it all Tim!
