After garnering the attention of the Australian Hip-Hop community back in 2018 for her breakout single ‘WHITE IVORY‘, Melbourne’s Sophiya has burst back onto the scene in 2020 by releasing a follow-up single titled ‘ROSIE‘, appearing in Red Bull’s 64 Bars Series, as well as dropping her highly anticipated third release ‘Chief O’ Kief‘.
Much like her previous work, Sophiya’s latest offering hears the emcee flow seamlessly over thumping bass-heavy production, delivering stylish bars and fast-paced wordplay.
As you would imagine, the single partly pays homage to both Chief Keef and the celebration of weed culture. However, Sophiya explained further:
“Chief O’ Kief is an alter ego I created that runs the streets in the underground rap scene of Melbourne. The song pays tribute to my favourite recreational herb.”
Accompanying the release are some dynamic visuals directed by Johnny Yayo and Brayden FunFilms. Keeping things topical, Sophiya salutes the herb and trips out while watching her alter ego star in a compelling music video.
