After opening the year with her remarkable slow jam ‘True Love‘, Japan-born, Melbourne-based artist Maya Hirasedo recently unveiled her long-anticipated debut EP ‘Times I Fell‘.
At five tracks deep, the project pushes the envelope with fervent R&B sonics and entrances the listener with silvery melodies and Maya’s infectious blend of old-school / new wave tonalities. All-the-while tracks such as ‘Put It Down‘ and ‘Safe With You‘ are prime examples of Maya’s ability to pour her heart and soul onto the record. From the hypnotising inflections, emotional lyricism, and somber, reverberating soundscapes, ‘Times I Fell‘ is a trip we couldn’t encourage more.
Speaking to Clash Music about the release, Maya Hirasedo says;
ββTimes I Fellβ is the first chapter in my trilogy about love – falling in it, falling back and falling out of it. The inspiration for the project came from personal experiences and those of my friends. It felt like we all had similar stories of falling quickly for a guy, being so deep in love and then the guy switching up.β
This EP also comprises previously released singles βSinkingβ and βI Know,β which have each accumulated upwards of 850,000 streams since 2021. Looking forward, TLF is eager to see what the next chapter will bring as Maya continues to showcase her masterful artistry.
