While TLF’s ‘MoreLifeMonday’ series has previously put focus on local Melbourne artists, this week we’re excited to announce our very first DJ/producer instalment.
This decision was based on the incentive of driving the local urban culture forward, and providing ‘more life’ to all forms of artistry, no matter the platform.
So without further ado, introducing Leon Lai, Australia’s newest wave maker. A trap/EDM DJ drawing influences from RL Grime and Ekali.
Leon started his journey in 2015 and wasted no time making a splash in his home town of Cairns, where he took first place at the Society DJ competition.
The next couple of years saw Leon share the decks with Troyboi, Will Sparks, Drezo, as well as supporting JUAZ, Snails, LUUDE and emerging super star Ivan Ooze alongside Melbourne heavyweight, Jûńor.
Though his accolades kept stacking up with Leon playing at The Grass Is Greener Festival, and his after party video racking up over of 10K views.
He is now based in Melbourne with his sights set on taking on a bigger pond and disturbing the peace in a big way.
Leon is more than your average DJ, his sets contain ridiculous energy and the slickest mixing in the game.
